Albert Larsson Tripod Table
A petite tripod table in teak and metal designed by Albert Larsson, 1959. A carpenter and furniture maker, Larsson established his own business specializing in functional furniture in Tibro, Sweden, 1938.
The tabletop is cross grain laminated plywood with a teak veneer. Beneath this is a section of tapered wood from which extends three brass-plated metal legs. Capping the end of each of the metal legs are solid wood shoes, which mimic the tapered shaped of the central shaft.
The table is a subtle example of atomic design and was an early instance of flat packed furniture. The table was originally sold in a cylindrical box which earned it the nickname ‘Table in a Jar’. The compact size and uncomplicated design of this three-legged table mean it continues to be a functional and elegant example of industrial furniture from the 1950s.
