Danish Teak & Brass Table Lamp
An elegant teak and brass table lamp, made in Denmark in the 1950s. Although petite, this light features many different shapes, all redolent of mid-twentieth century design.
The solid teak base is carved into a torus/doughnut shape. However, transforming the torus into a form more reminiscent of a flying saucer are the three splayed and tapered brass feet which create the lamp’s tripod stand.
Raising from the centre of the base is the lamp’s stem. The lowest section is brass formed into a trumpet shape. In the centre sits a spindle of teak which bugles at the waist and topping this is a straight sided cone of brass.
The switched bulb holder is also brass whilst the lampshade is a textured and natural-coloured linen and cotton blend material. The braided fabric covered cable, in antique-brown, is new but must be inspected by an electrician before use.
