Erik Höglund Anthropomorphic Paperweight
An abstract anthropomorphic paperweight by Erik Höglund for Boda, Sweden.
This handmade object is a highly simplistic form which can either be displayed standing, to convey the image of a human figure, or laid down on the flattened stomach to convey the characteristics of an animal. The head of the piece has been formed at a slight angle; this nuance renders the piece a convincing, abstract representation of both human and animal.
Höglund designed this series of paperweights in the mid 1950's. The collection consisted of 'people' in varying shapes and sizes, which were produced for just a short time making them highly collectible.
