Erik Höglund Polar Bear

A glass polar bear sculpture, designed by Erik Höglund and produced by Boda, Sweden, in the 1960's.

Erik Höglund was one of Sweden's most idiosyncratic and celebrated glass designers, and this seemingly naive object is typical of his work. Höglund developed his distinct style during the 1950's, taking inspiration from the simple forms found in primordial artefacts.

This sculpture is part of a series which includes other animals and people of different shapes, sizes and colours.
