Erik Höglund Rabbit Paperweight
A block of glass in the form of a Rabbit's head by the Boda Glassworks, Sweden. The design of this paperweight, by Erik Höglund, is honest and very tactile.
A face can been distinguished but the overall representation of the animal is abstract. Like the majority of Höglund's experimental work, the creature is chunky, rounded and rustic.
The holes created for the mouth, eyes and nose have been swiftly gouged and plainly reveal this design's origin as a hand carved wooden sculpture. Once cast in brilliantly clear glass, the object takes on the presence of an artefact from a prehistoric culture.
