Gunnar Nylund 'ASI' Hare's Fur Vase

An elegant bud vase designed by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand, Sweden, circa 1950's. 

Nylund was the artistic director at Rörstrand for more than 30 years, in which time he helped to establish the factory as a leader in Scandinavian ceramics. Rörstrand were recognised for both their quality of craftsmanship and their output of gracefully refined vases, which usually feature a silky matte glaze.

The form of this vase is incredibly elegant and perfectly reflects Rörstrand's influential output of the 1950's. The form is fluid and beautifully proportioned. The unusual mouth is bowl-shaped, and sits upon a graceful swooping neck. 

Due to the shape and smooth glaze, this vase is both incredibly tactile & undeniably exquisite.
