Gunnar Nylund Miniature Amphora
A miniature amphora vase, designed by Gunnar Nylund and produced at Rörstrand, Sweden, around 1948.
Rörstrand's miniature vases became increasingly popular in the 1950's and 60's, with exquisite designs by Gunnar Nylund and Carl-Harry Stålhane maintaining their appeal amongst collectors. This unusual Gunnar Nylund piece was designed in the 1940's, as indicated by the signature, making it an early example.
The moulded vase features an exaggerated spherical body with handles, whilst the conical foot & neck are decorated with a fluted pattern. The bold form is highly decorative, and features a dappled ochre glaze.
