Gunnar Nylund Miniature Striped Vase

A miniature vase designed by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand, Sweden, circa 1960.

Throughout the 1950's and 60's Rörstrand produced miniature vases, inspired by antique Chinese ceramics, to demonstrate their craftsmanship and technical capability. This exquisite, beautifully hand-painted vase is less typical of Rörstrands miniature output, as most featured one of many 'hares fur' glazes for which the factory is well known. 

Gunnar Nylund was the artistic director at Rörstrand for more than 30 years, in which time he helped to establish the factory as a leader in Scandinavian ceramics.
