A magnificently-deep-purple coloured soda glass vase, designed by Kaj Franck for Nuutajärvi Glassworks, circa 1965.

This hooped vessel was turned mould blown. Meaning, the piece was 'turned' whilst in the mould to remove any joint lines. Resultantly, the silhouette of this geometric vase is as crisp and refined as its colour.

Franck also released a version of this design inverted. In simpler term, this design was also made upside down. The aesthetically top heavy design is model number 1479. Examples of both the 1480 and 1479 are held in the British Museum
