Kaj Franck Purple 1610 Cocktail Pitcher
A deep purple coloured glass cocktail pitcher with an hourglass or diablo shaped geometric form, designed by Kaj Franck in 1954.
The 1610 Cocktail Pitcher is one of Franck's best known designs. It was hand-blown by the expert makers at Nuutajärvi Notsjö, Finland, between 1954-1966.
Franck was paramount in the development of Finland's modern aesthetic during the mid-20th century. He is best known for his functional homewares in glass and ceramics, which exploit both the practicality and beauty of crisp, clean geometry.
Resultantly, despite being almost 70 years old, the 1610 carafe, along with many of Franck's other utilitarian wares are still influencing product design today. A true testament to the enduring success of the thoroughly modern yet essential forms created by Kaj Franck.
