A sleek brass chamberstick designed by Karl Hagenauer c.1950, and handmade in Austria's Werkstätte Hagenauer Wein (Vienna).

Karl Hagenauer's streamlined designs became popular in the 1950's thanks to the era's growing fascination with elegant & modern design. This brass candle holder is an exemplar of Hagenaur's beautifully sculptural work.

The chamberstick, coloured black via a process of patination, has a soft yet geometric form that seemingly bridges the gap between the Art Deco and the Modernist aesthetic.
