Marianne Starck Large Blue Vase
A blue chamotte vase designed by renowned ceramicist Marianne Starck for Michael Andersen, Bornholm, Denmark, 1960's.
The form of this large vase has been hand-thrown in chamotte clay. Its hand-glazed surface features a various hues of indigo blues, white, and lilac. An abstract, softly geometric pattern has been applied to the piece which is enhanced with a slightly metallic bronze glaze.
Marianne Starck was the Artistic Director of Michael Andersen from 1955 until 1993, and was one of Denmark's leading designers in ceramics. She is known for her illustrative style and her use of unconventional glazes.
