Nanny Still 'Harlekiini' Juice Carafe & Six Glasses

A handled juice carafe & six glasses from the 'Harlekiini' (Harlequin) series designed by Nanny Still in 1958 for Riihimäen Lasi Oy, Finland.

Demonstrating Still's confident sense of form & masterful application of colour, the 'Harlekiini' series elevated her career to new heights in the late 1950's and has become an enduring symbol of Finnish Modernism.

The full 'Harlekiini' collection includes around 24 elements such as decanters, jugs and jars, with each piece composed from precise geometric shapes in a vibrant turquoise blue colour.

This set includes a stemmed, cylindrical juice carafe & six matching glasses. Each piece has been expertly handmade from rich turquoise glass. The clear glass handle and stems, a feature of the entire 'Harlekiini' series, add to the boldness and elegance of the set. The cylindrical bowl of each delicate glass echoes the shape of the large carafe, whilst the distinctively rimmed foot is used on all elements.
