Nuutajärvi Glassworks Giant Pitcher
A pitcher of tremendous proportions made by the Nuutajärvi Glassworks, in their amber-brown colour, circa 1955. Having seen a stickered version of this giant jug, we can assuredly attribute it to the Nuutajärvi factory, Finland. However, we are still to find evidence confirming the designer.
The straight-sided sections, one small & one large, that make up the the upper and lower parts, respectively, bare strong resemblance to Saara Hopea's Model 1618 jug -which won a silver medal at the Milan Triennale of 1954. The flat top edge, shape of the lip and ergonomic handle also match Hopea's jug of 1954.
