Scratch-Built Money Box
A handmade brass money box reminiscent of a rugby ball, dating from the early 20th century. This box is scratch-built, and quite possibly a piece of trench art - the sculptural shape being made from the tips of artillery shells.
The unconventional form of this modernist storage box has been created from two softly conical pieces of brass which are soldered together. A slot has been cut into the top, for coins, and the whole rugby ball-shaped piece attached to a flared circular base. The underside features a screw cap to access the contents.
