A high-quality set of four Modernist brass trays in the shape of each suit in a deck of cards; heart, diamond, spade, and club. All are stamped ‘M.I. Germany’ to the base, indicating they were made in West Germany in the 1960s.

The trays incorporate the three finishes that epitomise mid-twentieth century European metalware, each dish (inside and out) is filed and black patinated, and the outer rim has been polished back to the yellow brass.

Over the last 60 years, the trays have built up a glorious patination which even includes verde gris.
