Stig Lindberg 'Drejargods' Vase
This attractive miniature vase belongs to Stig Lindberg's 'Drejargods' series, and was produced during the latter part of the 1960's at Gustavsberg, Sweden.
'Drejargods' translates as 'Turnware', with each piece in Lindberg's series being hand-made on the potter's wheel. The series consists of exquisitely proportioned stoneware vases & bowls, each featuring a beautifully refined glaze. Whilst Lindberg's unique works feature decorative surface textures & patterns, the 'Drejargods' collection is about the elegance of clean lines.
The shape of this miniature vase is reminiscent of ancient Chinese ceramics, a source of inspiration for many Scandinavian ceramicists of the mid-20th Century. The perfect form consists of a tactile bulb-like body & long neck. The mouth is gently flared, whilst the neck features a raised collar band which creates a simple decorative white line in the glaze. The sophisticated glaze is a smooth chestnut-brown colour, with freckled areas of darker brown & intricate depths of black & green.
