Stig Lindberg 'Drejargods' Vase
This attractive ball-shaped vase belongs to Stig Lindberg's 'Drejargods' series, and was handmade during the latter part of the 1960's at Gustavsberg, Sweden.
'Drejargods' translates as 'Turnware', with each piece in Lindberg's series being hand-made on the potter's wheel. The series consists of exquisitely proportioned stoneware vases & bowls, each featuring a beautifully refined glaze. Whilst Lindberg's unique handmade works feature decorative surface textures & patterns, the 'Drejargods' collection is about the elegance of clean lines.
The round shape of this vase, like many Scandinavian pieces from this era, is reminiscent of ancient Chinese ceramics. The elegant form consists of a tactile ball-like body & short neck neck. The mouth has a gently flared rim, whilst the neck features a raised collar band. The beautifully sophisticated glaze is a smooth chestnut-brown colour, with hints of yellow ochre and lightly mottled areas of darker brown.
