Stig Lindberg Unique Lidded Jar
This lidded jar was designed by Stig Lindberg and handcrafted at Gustavsberg's art studio in 1965.
The success & enduring appeal of Lindberg's ceramics is that they reflect the charming and eccentric characteristics of the designer himself. Whilst the boldness of the jar's colourful blue glaze is typically Lindberg, it's the quirky modernist-yet-informal shape which distinctly conveys the designer's hand.
This footed jar is part of a series of unique handmade objects which feature applied underglaze surface patterns. The unconventional form features a vibrant blue glaze, enhanced by an intricate chequered pattern impressed into the clay before firing.
A playful take on the modern Scandinavian aesthetic, the charming container is a decorative yet practical keep-safe for small items, whilst being a precious collectable in itself.
