This hand-blown vase was designed by Vicke Lindstrand in 1956 for Kosta, Sweden, and utilises the Venetian filigree technique.

The soft, organic form of this thick-walled vase is enhanced with white and aubergine filigree stripes that twist gracefully around the whole piece. 

Lindstrand was a key figure and pioneer in 20th Century Scandinavian design, and this piece is typical of his works in glass which often feature a gently modernist organic form.
