Walter Bosse Cat Corkscrew
A concealed freestanding corkscrew in the form of a cat, designed by Walter Bosse, late 1950's, Germany.
Walter Bosse is well known for his whimsical 'black-golden' line of patinated brass animals produced by Herta Baller, Vienna, Austria. When Bosse moved to Germany in 1953, he began to design a whole new portfolio of designs to be produced locally. It was from this period that some of his most famous work was produced, such as his hedgehog ashtrays and animal coat hooks.
This vintage design was produced in Germany and comes from this later period. The cat is highly characterful and has been modelled in Bosse's signature style. With its expressive face and out-stretched paw, the feline makes a fantastic figurine, but is also a handy object to have around the house; the head removes to reveal a corkscrew.
