Walter Bosse Mouse Pretzel Holder
A patinated brass mouse, designed by Walter Bosse in the 1950's and produced in Vienna, Austria by the Herta Baller workshop.
In true Austrian fashion, the original function of this delightful creature was to hold & serve pretzels, so unlike the real thing, he is a welcome guest at any party!
The mouse has been beautifully styled in the cute & friendly manner so typical of Bosse's much-loved work. The mouse is particularly sculptural, with his round body and long, pointed nose with a polished tip. The nose is slightly upturned; a subtle detail which gives this relatively simple design a true sense of character. The mouse features a long & wavy tail on which pretzels (or rings!) can be stored.
The mouse dates from the early 1950's, and Bosse's objects from this period are loved & collected not only for their fantastic design, but also for their quality of materials & craftspersonship.
