Walter Bosse Narwhal Corkscrew
A rare and early Herta Baller corkscrew in the form of a narwhal, design by Walter Bosse, Austria, in the 1950s.
Although angular in parts, and made entirely of metal this design is brilliantly ergonomic. The body of the fish is superbly shaped to sit in the palm of your hand, whilst the dorsal & ventral fins are perfectly placed and subtly curved to accommodate your index and middle finger -for a firm grip for pulling.
Walter Bosse is best known for his whimsical 'black-golden' line of patinated cast brass animals. Early examples, like this, are revered for their quality of design and manufacture.
