A modernist brass pipe rest, designed by Walter Bosse and produced at Herta Baller, Austria, circa 1950.

Walter Bosse is known for his endearing 'black-golden' line of brass animals, but also designed a number of sculptural patinated desk items such as trays, dishes and pipe rests, usually in a fluid or organic shape. This pipe holder consists of an elegant bevelled arch with areas polished brass. The incredibly stylish design is reminiscent of Vienna's renowned metalworks of the early 20th Century.
